Don’t you wish you could just swallow these beers whole? Well… you can, next Tuesday, April 4th, 2017 from 5pm-10pm at our Costa Mesa location for our Karl Strauss Tap Takeover! Sierra Nevada has teamed up with Karl Strauss Brewing Company and together they have combined their award winning brews into ONE! They were so delighted with the outcome, they decided to go on tour! How awesome is that?! We are so grateful they chose The Iron Press Costa Mesa as one of their roadshow stops!
Here are some of our superstars for the event:
NXS (Karl Strauss/Sierra Nevada Collab) - This “Left Coast” IPA is a collaboration between Northern California’s Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. and San Diego’s Karl Strauss Brewing Company - who together represent nearly 65 years of brewing experience. NxS is unabashedly hoppy, in true California fashion, and features hop flavors of citrus and tropical fruit with a light and crisp malt body.
614 (Taylor Guitar Collab) - Taylor Guitars and Karl Strauss have teamed up to create a beer that celebrates the best of both of our industries. Inspired by a trip to the Skagit Valley in the Pacific Northwest - an environmentally forward-thinking community known for its production of sustainable maple and world class malt. 614 (Six Fourteen) is a Farmhouse Ale with lively aromas and flavors of lemon zest, Belgian spice, and toasted notes from the addition of maple wood
28th Anniversary - This year’s full-bodied Barrel-Aged Belgian Quad is rich and malty, with flavors of dark fruit, caramel, and charred oak. Aging the beer in Four Roses Bourbon barrels gives it a surprisingly smooth, warming finish.
Big Barrel DIPA - Imported New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hops provide a vibrant tropical aroma that raises eyebrows and expectations. Aggressive amounts of Warrior and Ahtanum hops produce an assertive bitterness that stands out against a firm malt backbone. Balanced even at 90 IBUs, Big Barrel leaves a considerable first impression that serves as a prelude of things to come.
Dos Californias (‘Two Californians’) Lager - An easy drinking Mexican Lager with subtle flavors of habanero and agave, balanced by a clean, crisp malt-backbone. Contrary to many beers that use the habanero peppers, Dos Californianos has just enough habaneros to add flavor, but stops short of having intense heat.
Aurora Hoppyalis IPA - Our San Diego-style IPA brewed with Simcoe, Mosaic, Amarillo, and Citra hops. Robust flavors and aromas of tropical fruit, pine, and tangerine linger through a dry, crisp finish.
