The sun is blazing and the weather is hot, so we thought we’d bring the beach to Anaheim… Redondo Beach that is!

On April 14th, 2015 A.D., surf’s up!  From 5 P.M. to 10 P.M. at our Anaheim location, we’ll be hosting our beer comrades from the coast-  KING HARBOR BREWING.  It will be on the heels of their one year anniversary party and they’ve made sure to set aside their delicious year-round beers, along with some exciting SURPRISE kegs!!!  Here’s some of the tap list that we will have on draft from them.  (The rest is TOP SECRET!  If we told you, we’d have to kill you.):

King Harbor Brewing Co IPA -

India Pale Ale - 6.7% ABV

Over the years we have fallen in love with the tropical fruit forward hop varieties and we went straight for them with our King Harbor IPA. You'll find big hop flavor and aroma like that of West-Coast IPAs, but uniquely King Harbor in the flavor profile created by blending El Dorado, Azacca, and Centennial Hops.

King Harbor Brewing Co The Quest -

Lemon Drop, Single Hopped Pale Ale Series - 5.9% ABV

This hoppy, yet balanced pale ale is our way of giving the customer a unique hop experience. The Quest utilizes the same grain bill and bittering hop (Warrior) for each batch, but the flavor and aroma hop character is attributed to each specified hop. In addition, we add a twist to each version by finding a special ingredient to brighten the character of the flavor/aroma hop.

King Harbor Brewing Co Abel Brown Nitro -

American Brown Ale w/Coffee - 4.7% ABV

Abel Brown is an American style brown ale that is blended with cold press, medium roast, single source, Arabica bean coffee. The aroma is fresh roasted coffee. The taste is a balance of coffee and mild chocolate/toasted characters. Abel Brown delivers all of the flavors of a stout or porter, but with the medium body and clean finish of a brown ale.

King Harbor Brewing Co California Saison -

California-style Saison - 5.5% ABV

The California Saison is a noticeably California twist on the classic Belgian Saison style.  Locally sourced lemon peel and Lemon Verbena from Scarborough Farms in Oxnard, California, combined with the liberal Sorachi Ace hopping give this beer subtle, but complex citrus notes followed by a dry, refreshing finish.

King Harbor Brewing Co Storm's A-Brewin'-

Nitro Baltic Porter - 8.0% ABV

A strong, dark beer with a bready malt backbone, notes of chocolate and sweet dark caramel flavors - toffee and raisin - and a touch of alcohol heat on the finish.

King Harbor Brewing Co The Swirly -

American Brown Ale w/Coffee, Vanilla, & Chocolate - 4.7% ABV

A version of Abel Brown brewed with THCO cacao nibs, vanilla beans, and lactose. Like a vanilla and chocolate swirled ice cream cone!

Mark your calendars!  We’ll have King Harbor tasty brews, beer swag giveaways, dinner/dessert specials, DJ Lex luring everyone to dance it out with his awesome beats and BONUS-- You get to hang out with the Iron Press Crew!  Sounds like a win - win!

Smoochies,

The Iron Press Crew

The Iron Press - Anaheim - Staff Beer Pick of the Month

My dear reader, is there something missing from your life? Are you feeling weighed down by the usual day to day? Have you grown tired of super bitter, over hopped pale ales? Of course not, they’re delicious; the hell’s the matter with you!?!? Now, to be fair, even I crave a change of scenery from time to time. Listen close kiddies cuz Oscar’s ‘bout to drop knowledge with this month’s staff pick. Drum roll please…

Krombacher Dark - Krombacher Brauerei

Schwarzbier, 4.3% ABV

That’s right folks DARK! Clocking in at a modest 4.3% alcohol by volume, this Schwarzbier still manages to deliver complex flavor. Drink deep and allow its rich maltiness to envelop you in its warm embrace. Just one taste makes you realize that you’re not strangers meeting for the first time, no; you’re old friends who’ve found each other once again. Hailing from the motherland, this balanced brew is the perfect compliment for the one, the only, the sinfully decadent Iron Press Wookie! A waffled cookie made from scratch (by yours truly I might add) with Hershey’s milk chocolate, topped with creamy vanilla ice cream, and bathed in a Ghirardelli chocolate drizzle. Dessert and a beer!?!? Why not, you’re an adult, right? Treat yourself to both and be captivated by visions of busty milk maids and the picturesque Bavarian countryside.

I look forward to seeing you at Anaheim, enjoying an ice cold pint, as golden black as the morning sunset. I know I will. And don’t forget to check out our upcoming tap takeover starring none other than Southern California’s own King Harbor. Join us and become a part of history on Tuesday April 14, 2015 A.D. at The Iron Press Anaheim. See you soon!

Waffle Presses & Sharp Knives,

The Iron Press - Costa Mesa - Staff Beer Pick of the Month

Hey dudes! Our Staff Beer Pick of the Month is Here...

Mari Barkhordar has selected Humboldt Brewing Company Humboldt Brown; Hemp Ale

"Picking my favorite beer on tap has got to be the hardest thing considering I like all our beers here at The Iron Press Costa Mesa (but who doesn’t, am I right?) But if I had to pick one, Humboldt Brewing Co.’s Homboldt Brown takes the cake! Originally known as their Hemp Ale, this well balanced brown pays homage to the goodness of mother Earth by featuring a generous helping of toasted hemp seeds for rooty bitterness that makes my taste buds sing a hallelujah. Don’t let a pint of this guy stand alone and ask for the BBQ Bacon Burger. Just trust me. I’ll be waiting for ya, Humboldt Brown in hand!" Cheers, Mari

2014 Bourbon County Vanilla Rye Stout - Goose Island

Imperial Stout Aged in Bourbon Barrels,  13.8% ABV, 35 IBU

Yes craft beer lovers!  You read that correct!... We have a keg of 2014 Vanilla Rye.  We’ve been saving this keg for a while and we figured, “What the heck!  Let’s give our peeps what they are longing for!”  This year’s version of the velvety stout has a little twist.  They’ve aged it in Rye Whiskey Barrels and it is choc’ full of Mexican and Madagascar vanilla beans!  We’re thinking this would pair amazingly with our new BBQ Bacon Burger!  Meaty deliciousness, sweet BBQ sauce, thick cut bacon would marry perfectly with this smoky rich stout!...This exclusive release won’t last forever!  You better get your Bourbon County lovin’ booties down here, so we can pour you a glass from the infamous Goose head tap!  Honk! Honk!

Oh and don’t forget-  Our next Tuesday Tap Takeover at our Anaheim location will be on St. Patty’s Day, March 17, 2015 A.D.  It’s going to be Leprechaun-a-riffic!  We’ll be hosting the amazing Pizza Port Brewing.  Trust us, you are definitely going to flip when you see their draft line-up!  It’s gonna sham-ROCK!
